End-to-end solutions from raw materials to production equipments for PU foam and mattress-Sabtech

Guinea Furniture Manufacturer Rebonded Foam Project

The customer, based in Guinea, is a large furniture manufacturer with many years of manufacturing experience. The customer’s original furniture business mainly focused on metal furniture, while the upholstered furniture business was only just getting started. Before this project, the customer had no experience in either foam production or rebonded foam production. This project was launched primarily to process the PU foam scrap generated in the customer’s own production, while also laying the groundwork for gradually building rebonded foam production capability in the future.

For projects of this kind, what the customer usually evaluates is not just the equipment itself, but also technical support, key supporting materials, delivery capability, and whether the overall solution is suitable for the factory’s current conditions.

Project Background

This project has several clear characteristics:
  • The customer has mature factory management and manufacturing experience.
  • The customer’s original business mainly focused on metal furniture, while upholstered furniture was only at an early stage.
  • The customer had no experience in foam production and no experience in rebonded foam production.
  • The raw materials mainly come from the PU foam scrap generated in the customer’s own factory.
  • At the current stage, the project is mainly focused on processing in-house foam offcuts.
  • If the operation runs smoothly in the future, there is room for further expansion.

Although the customer was new to rebonded foam production, its standards for the equipment itself were quite high. Many of the machines the customer had previously used or evaluated were from Europe, as well as from some major Chinese brands. As a result, the customer had relatively high expectations regarding equipment performance, appearance, workmanship, material quality, structure, and detail finishing.

What the Customer Focused on Most Before Purchasing

Before confirming the solution, the customer’s concerns were quite clear and mainly centered on the following aspects.

Technical Support and Start-Up Guidance

Since the customer had no experience in rebonded foam production, one of the main points of evaluation before purchasing was whether the supplier could provide follow-up technical support and on-site guidance, and whether the project could be helped to start up smoothly.

Machine Durability and Detail Handling

The customer placed considerable importance on the durability of the equipment and also paid close attention to whether the machine was satisfactory in terms of materials, structure, workmanship, and detail handling.

Whether Delivery Arrangements Were Reliable

The customer also paid attention to whether the delivery schedule was reliable and whether the equipment and related supporting items could be advanced according to the agreed timetable.

Whether the Supporting Package Was Complete

For a customer that is just entering rebonded foam production, whether key materials and related supporting items can be provided together also directly affects the purchasing decision.

Why the Customer Ultimately Chose Us

This project went through a relatively long communication process from the initial contact to final confirmation. In the end, the customer chose us mainly for the following reasons.

Timely Replies and Higher Communication Efficiency

In cross-border industrial equipment projects like this, communication efficiency itself is an important basis on which customers evaluate suppliers. Our responses throughout the communication process were consistently prompt. And this was something the customer could directly perceive.

The Equipment Itself Inspired More Confidence

The customer had high requirements for equipment performance, appearance, workmanship, and detail handling. During the communication process, we provided relatively clear explanations regarding the machine’s material quality, structure, and detail finishing, and used photos for comparison and illustration, helping the customer form a more direct judgment of the equipment’s workmanship and overall condition.

The Solution Was Better Aligned with the Customer’s Actual Operating Conditions

The customer currently has no experience in rebonded foam production, and the operators will also need time to gradually become familiar with the entire production process. Considering that the customer’s raw materials mainly come from its own production system, with relatively stable sources and limited variation in specifications, we first clarified the basic operating approach during the solution confirmation stage so that later operations could proceed according to an established process.

After the engineer arrives on site, key operating items will also be set and explained on site according to the customer’s raw material conditions and target requirements, including:

  • providing basic material mix recommendations based on the raw materials
  • setting an initial formula according to the target hardness and density requirements
  • setting the system parameters according to on-site conditions
  • explaining the precautions for incoming material screening, crushing, and operation
  • providing cost-saving recommendations based on the customer’s overall raw material conditions

For a project that is just entering rebonded foam production, this is more conducive to getting the equipment into use in the early stage and gradually establishing the basic operating process.

Corresponding Adjustments Were Made for the Customer’s On-Site Conditions

Based on the customer’s later operating scenario, we made targeted considerations in both equipment configuration and detail handling, including:

  • adding a dust isolation device in response to dust-related issues
  • enlarging and reinforcing all worktables according to local practical usage conditions
  • adding emergency stop devices at key operating positions, considering that operators would need a run-in period in the early stage
These adjustments are not just equipment details; they also directly affect later operating stability and ease of use.

The Equipment and Key Supporting Materials Could Be Supplied Together

What the customer ultimately purchased was not only the main equipment, but also PU binder and spray glue. For a customer with no experience in rebonded foam production, this makes it easier to prepare the equipment and key materials together in the early stage, while also reducing the need to source from multiple suppliers separately.

Procurement Scope

The items finally confirmed by the customer included:

Equipment
1 set of Rebonded Foam Machine
1 set of Foam Crusher

Supporting Materials
PU binder
Spray Glue

This purchase covered both the equipment and the key supporting materials, so the customer did not need to source these critical materials separately during the start-up stage, making the early preparation more straightforward.

Equipment Capacity

Based on the confirmed configuration, under an 8-hour working schedule, the full set of equipment is capable of producing about 20 foam blocks per day, which is sufficient to fully handle the amount of foam scrap the customer currently generates each day.

Container Loading and Shipment

The equipment and supporting materials for this project were loaded and shipped on March 28, 2026. During container loading, we optimized container space utilization to reduce transportation costs.

Conclusion

This project represents a fairly typical situation: the customer already has a mature furniture manufacturing foundation and also has in-house PU foam scrap that needs to be processed, but has no experience in rebonded foam production. For this type of project, what the customer usually evaluates is not only the equipment itself, but also whether the supplier can properly consider technical support, key supporting materials, and delivery arrangements together.

If you are also evaluating a rebonded foam machine solution, or considering how to build rebonded foam production capability using your own in-house PU foam scrap, you are welcome to send us your raw material conditions, target applications, and site conditions. Based on experience from similar projects, we can help you further clarify the configuration approach and supporting solution.
