Sponge Slabstock Foaming Machine-Overflow Trough Floating Cover Press Plate Flat-Top Foaming Machine

This is a new process developed by Unifoam based on the overflow trough technique, incorporating the principles of the balanced press plate method. It was introduced to the market in 1992 under the name Pintomax. The principle is illustrated in the diagram below.

By introducing a top paper and a floating cover press plate system, the top surface of the foam block can achieve an almost “completely” flat shape, resulting in a rectangular cross-section. Since the foam block’s top surface is already relatively flat in the drop plate section, a lighter floating cover press plate can be used. By applying slight pressure through the kraft paper and film covering the foam block’s top surface, the surface can be entirely flattened without significantly affecting foam density. Additionally, compared to foam blocks produced by the overflow trough method, this process results in a thinner top skin layer.
