Basic Components of a Flexible PU Foam Production Line: Safety and Fire Protection Facilities

Polyurethane foam is a highly flammable porous material with a large surface area. In addition to strictly controlling open flames, improper handling during bulk foam production may lead to spontaneous combustion due to the accumulation of reaction heat. Therefore, fire safety and prevention are critical concerns in the production process. The primary risk of spontaneous combustion comes from foam blocks, especially freshly foamed ones.

Factory layout should ensure sufficient fire safety distances between the foaming workshop, cutting workshop, and foam curing storage area. If these areas are interconnected, fireproof partition doors must be installed. The foam storage area and racks should be equipped with automatic sprinkler systems and other effective fire extinguishing devices. Additionally, all production and processing areas must have adequate fire protection facilities.
