Basic Components of a Flexible PU Foam Production Line: Control System

The control system is responsible for measuring, adjusting, and ensuring various process parameters during the foaming process. The main process conditions controlled include:

 

  1. Material Temperature – Primarily the temperature of isocyanates and polyols, measured using resistance thermometers, thermocouples, or other temperature sensors.

 

  1. Monitoring of Metering Systems – Includes pressure and flow monitoring and adjustment.

 

  1. Conveyor Belt Speed – Measurement and adjustment of belt speed.

 

  1. Mixing Head Operation – Monitoring and adjustment of stirring speed, mixing chamber pressure, and movement.

 

  1. Foam Block Density – Measurement and adjustment of foam density.

 

  1. Foam Block Storage Monitoring – Operators can use an industrial TV system to regulate foam movement in storage racks, ensuring smooth coordination between foaming production and storage.

 

In modern production systems, process control computers can monitor and adjust parameters based on operator input or preset commands. During foaming, servo systems can modify metering pump flow ratios for seamless density switching without stopping production. This enables the production of multiple density grades in a single foaming process, significantly improving efficiency and reducing material waste.
